Along with Jaco Pastorius, whom he may have influenced, Eberhard Weber transformed the sound of the electric bass in contemporary jazz. His anthology traces his path towards the “liberation” of the instrument and shows his affinity with both American and European players. Weber is heard here with Gary Burton, with Pat Metheny and with Ralph Towner and with several editions of the Jan Garbarek Group as well as with his own projects, featuring musicians as diverse as Bill Frisell and Norma Winstone, Charlie Mariano and Paul McCandless.
