Jazz at the Festivals
The festival season is underway and music from ECM is to be heard in many contexts.
From June 28 to July 7, Jazz Baltica in Kiel, Husum and Salzau in the North of Germany presents a wide-ranging programme with past and present ECM artists including Enrico Rava, Stefano Bollani, Bobo Stenson, Tord Gustavsen, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Marcin Wasilewski, Peter Erskine, Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny.

The Montreux Jazz Festival July 1-5 includes Charles Lloyd’s Sangam project with Zakir Hussain and Eric Harland, and Trio Beyond – with Jack DeJohnette, John Scofield and Larry Goldings – playing the music of Tony Williams. www.montreuxjazz.com
From July 7 – 16 guests at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia include Carla Bley Big Band and Trio Beyond.
Artists appearing at the North Sea Jazz Festival from July 14 – 16 include Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin, Manu Katche’s Neighbourhood, Trio Beyond, and the Trygve Seim Ensemble.

Chalkidiki in Greece is the site of the Sani Festival (July 21-23) where Tord Gustavsen, Charles Lloyd’s Sangam and the Anouar Brahem Trio are amongst the guests. Brahem also appears at the Musica sulle bocche Festival (August 24-28) in Sardinia, as do the Bobo Stenson Trio, Anja Lechner and UT Gandhi.
