A recording of great charm, Home features bassist Steve Swallow’s settings of the poetry of Robert Creeley for an inspired band of friends, each of whom is also a strikingly original presence. Creeley was very supportive of the project and loved particularly Sheila Jordan’s singing. Swallow, whose feeling for verse is as profound as his understanding of jazz, gets right inside the meaning of the texts and illuminates them with his melodies.
